{ Card Kit Monday }

Another card with Card Kit Monday from last week. These cards are pretty easy to put together. You just need to decide what colors you will use for your project.

Hello by Daniela Dobson

I changed the size for this one and when I do that I draw a rectangle for the actual card size. In this case, 5.5 x 4.25. Then I add my pieces and size them to the card, bigger or smaller. You can see all my elements below.

Once I have the size adjusted I separate the elements in the corners. I have been using 6x6 paper pads for my cards lately and I can add 4 different colors to the mat. You can cut them smaller to fit more papers and sometimes I do that, too.

I thought I would share a stack of my 6x6 paper pads. I had them all on the table looking for the colors I needed.  I have several, but I have been really using them lately on lots of projects. The newest one, not pictured is by Crate Paper, Confetti. They are perfect for the silhouette since you don’t have to cut up a 12x12 sheet of paper.

Here is a close up of my project. My friend Katrina, who shared a card she made with the same kit on her blog last week, doubled the bird and the wings. I loved the idea and I did just that. You can see her adorable card here. I did change the circle to an oval.

I used Retro Sketch 175 for this card.

Once again, if you make something with the kit please share and let me know. I would love to see. You can download the kit HERE.

{ Creating a Snowflake in Silhouette Studio }

I just can’t believe that tomorrow is the last day of 2012. I am always a little sad when a year comes to an end and excited to see what the new one will bring.
2012 was good to me!

I had several requests for a video on how I make my snowflakes in Silhouette Studio.

First, let me show you a sneak for January Studio AE.

Note: I do have a Designer Edition of the software and I realize that some functions might now be available. I am able to show you how to make a snowflake with out the Center of Rotation adjustment function that is only available in Designer Edition.

Here are some of my snowflake creations…don’t forget the free Snowflake file download.

Here is my card.

Happy birthday by Daniela Dobson

I created the triangles in my Silhouette Studio. I lined up three different sheets of patterned paper and cut them out all at once. To line the triangles on my card, I started with the bottom triangle and adhered it to the center of the card. From there I worked out to each side, trimming the ends.
I tucked a little Lily Bee Persnickity Journaling Card (September Scrapbook Circle kit) at the top and used Impression Obsession Pattern Strips stamps to stamp the triangles. The butterfly is from Silhouette 15. I added  3D Foam Squares by Therm O Web to the sentiment from Circle Greetings stamp set.

Today I am sharing with you how to create this mini album.

I started this mini album by tracing a "template" on pattered paper. I had this template for years, and I got it at a scrapbook convention. Here is a Mini 4x4 template that is very similar.
I used my Scor-Buddy to score all the lines for folding. I used Super Stik Glue Stick to adhere the chipboard to the patterned paper. I cut and scored the inside edges of the album.

I punched a strip of patterned paper, lined it up along the top of Scor-Buddy and scored between each scallop. I used  a Jumbo Zots Adhesive Dot to hold the fan fold flower together. This was my first time trying to make the flower and it was pretty easy with the Scor-Buddy.
 Next, I used the 1/8" grooves on the Scor-Buddy to score my white cardstock. I cut a heart out and inked the top with Clearsnap ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink: Toffee. Later, I sprayed the heart with Smooch Spritz in Cosmic Pink.

I used Clearsnap ColorBox Dye Ink: Pinkolicious to stamp the frame that I cut out. After it was cut out I scored it the same way as the heart, using the 1/8" grooves. The top is inked with Toffee ink to define the groves. I really like the way that turned out.

After the inside pages were scored and assembled I stamped each page with an image using Clearsnap ColorBox Pigment Stamp Pad: Chestnut.
The photos are from our Summer Honeymoon in Tahiti (Bora Bora and Moorea).
