{ My Scrapbook Nook August kit layouts and a card }

Here are two more layouts I created with My Scrapbook Nook August kit. All the papers are October Afternoon Road Map, perfect for those travel photos, or not.

I wanted to document Alex's favorite books. I stacked all the ones he loves and took a photo. We were playing in his room when I was stacking the books and taking pictures...soon after that he was doing the same thing. For the top of the page, I cut 1/2" of the cardstock and sewed one of the die cut strips that comes in the kit. I wanted to use my new Cuttlebug butterfly die and embossing folders that I got last month. I sketched this layout during breakfast with Alex and finished it that night. I stitched around the layout like I do on my cards, so simple and not perfect. The ribbon is machine stitched, as well. This was my first time stitching ribbon like that and it was easy. I made a dress for the chipboard girl shape and I added a Prima flower (not in the kit). The American Crafts letters that come in the kit are white fabric, so easy to paint.

This card is made for a class that you can find here. Step by step instructions with photos.

Have a great night.

{ Impression Obsession DT challenge #25 - Fall colors, Project 365 - week 31 }

The challenge: use fall colors. It doesn't feel like fall around here, but the colors of fall are my favorite. I was excited to dig into this stash of papers and stamps. I used CardPatterns sketch #26 for this card. Do you see that wonderful background? I embossed the background with Cover-a-Card Greenery (CC018). The stamps are 5.75 x 5.75 inches! Make sure you order a Mega Mount (pre-order only until September 1). New stamps are available now. The tree is from Branches of the Tree set (CL168) and sentiment from I Wish For You (CL227) stamp set.

I hope you'll take the time to visit the other designers' blogs for inspiration! Laura, Dina, Jeanne, Jenny, Julie, Kelli, and Shirley.

***Would you like to see your card featured on the Impression Obsession blog? Email your challenge cards using Impression Obsession images to Shirley. Every week, cards will be selected to showcase on the Impression Obsession blog!!!

{ First Car, 2 Sketches 4 You, Happy Anniversary }

Well, we were shopping for a car for Alex, but we didn't get it. He was too small then, and was falling through the hole on the bottom where the feet go.

This is my very first layout created for My Scrapbook Nook. The August kit is filled with October Afternoon Road Map paper, American Crafts, Making Memories, 7 gypsies and Maya Road... What do you think?

I finally made a card for a fun sketch, 2 sketches 4 you #32. I decided that I needed to get back into my stash and all the new stuff I got recently. I used scraps of October Afternoon paper. The journaling spots were on sale for $1 at Michael's last month. They are by Me and My Big Ideas.

Remember the OWL stamps I bought last week? I love them!!!! No problems inking and stamping. Amy asked in the last post if I had any problems. I do with Stampin' Up inks. The ink beaded up...I was having the same problem with the heart, but I needed the red to match the card, Ruby Red. I used my pencil eraser to "erase" over the stamp and it worked like a charm. No beading up. It is our Anniversary today, 4 years. We celebrated with a nice dinner out, just the three of us.

This is us now.

This is us then...

***Something new and fun is brewing at Caardvarks ~ 8/5.

***New Impression Obsession challenge this week. New stamps are up and for sale.

{ Keep In Touch, new goodies }

I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday. I wanted to share a mini album I created for Keep In Touch Card Shop. The album has a total of 14 pages and Kelly has all the pages on her blog. I will upload it to the gallery and post a link. I wanted all the fun photos of Alex from the summer in one place and this little album from Jenni Bowlin was perfect. Here are two more cards from the kit. I had to share what I got from Tara Anderson. She was a guest designer for Elle's Studio in July and had some extra goodies to give away!!! How fun are those little stamps? Thanks Tara.I couldn't resist these adorable Owl stamps at Michael's the other day, love owls. Oh, and some trees, my other favorite, and some border stamps by Kolette Hall. OK, have a great night. I have a date with an awesome, August, kit form My Scrapbook Nook.
