{ My Favorite Things sketch and color challenge }

It’s Saturday and so gloomy outside. I was cleaning my desk and wanted to look around to see if there was a fun challenge. I totally love the blue and gray from the Color Challenge #62 and decided to participate in the sketch challenge, as well. I love all the new stamps that are coming out and really need to add some more to my very small collection.

Here is my card.

Sending hugs by Daniela Dobson

I love how this card came together. I used Beast Friends stamp set and dies. I colored him with watercolor. “Sending hugs” was the extra die that came with my order. The hearts are die cut from white cardstock that I colored with Blueberry ink. The heart die is from Tag Builder Blueprints. The diamond shape under the Beast is a tree from Oh Christmas Trees stamp set. I stamped them with Tropical Teal and Spearmint and cut them out. The polka dot strip is a piece of washi. I used 3D foam squares to add dimension to the little Beast.

That is all I have for today. Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great Saturday!

{ My Favorite Things sketch and color challenge }

When I saw the Beast Friends from My Favorite Things I just had to have them. They are adorable! This summer we went to Disney World and took a ride on Expedition Everest at Disney Animal Kingdom. It was a rough and scary ride. Alex, who doesn’t even like roller coasters, had taken several fast rides over our 4 day adventure including Test Track and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. He was not too happy about it. We did get him a cute Yeti after the ride to help him forget all about it.

Beastie by Daniela Dobson

I used the colors from Color Challenge #55 and sketch 302. I used Kraft as my base and a strip across the card, as in the sketch. I found the striped paper that matched the color perfectly. I colored the Yeti with my Prismacolor Pencils. I die cut him and used 3D foam squares from Therm O Web to pop him up. Same with the sentiment strip. The circle is from Die-namics Tag Builder Blueprints 6. I did add Whipped Spackle with a stencil to the background and some sequins and Nuvo Crystal Drops.

{ Hello – color and sketch challenge }

I have a quick card today that I created after I saw the Color Throwdown #398. In addition, I used a sketch from Case this sketch #178.
I wanted to use some of my brand new Technique Tuesday stamps that were released this month. For this card I used Bravo stamp set and Marquee Arrows DIY Steel die.

Hello by Daniela Dobson

I used my Ranger Distress Stains, they are like paint daubers. I added two strips of washi under that. “Hello” is stamped and cut out. I added Therm O Web 3D foam adhesive to pop it up a little bit for dimension. I added some Whipped Spackle through a stencil from StecnilGirl Products. The pink wasn’t bright enough so I die cut an arrow from bright pink paper and added some sequins.

I'm entering this card for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Tic Tac Toe - Sequins + Stencil + Washi, Color Throwdown #398 and Case this sketch #178.

{ Sketchy Thursday with May Cake by the Ocean kit from Scraptastic Club }

I am sharing a layout I created with our June sketch using May 2016 Cake by the Ocean kit, add-on on Scraptastic blog today.

Happy day by Daniela Dobson

I pretty much followed the sketch with strips of paper behind my small photo. I duplicated the flower clusters with round embellishments. I added color shine sprinkles and washi from my stash, and enamel dots from a previous kit.

Here is the sketch that Susan created. Make sure you join us at Scraptastic Club Subscribers Facebook page to share your creations.

Here is one more layout with May kit.

Most favorite by Daniela Dobson

For this one I used modeling paste and the stencil that came in the kit. I used just a little of patterned paper behind the photos since I wanted those vellum shapes to stand out.

{ Impression Obsession DT challenge – Furry Friends }

Hi and welcome to our  Impression Obsession challenge – Furry Friends.

Here is my card.

Hey there by Daniela Dobson

I don’t have many furry friends and I had to really search for this one. I haven’t used this stamp set yet, so it was perfect. I started with two strips of washi tape and then one of the mini patterns was stamped to the right. The large chalk tag is stamped and cut out and then I stamped the words from the Fox stamp set over the top.  I stamped the fox on white cardstock and used my watercolor crayons to color him. He is adhered to the tag using Therm O Web 3D foam adhesive. A little button with a bow and sequins to finish this card. I used Mojo Monday 450 for the card sketch.

{ Layered butterfly freebie }

I know totally random post today since I am sharing a freebie. Didn’t quite make the Card Kit Monday, even though I am thinking about it. I was sharing files every Monday and making a card with them and sometimes I even had a video. There were lots of downloads, but I have never seen anyone make anything with them. I am still thinking about sharing free files, I have lots of them.

Today I am sharing a card I created using Silhouette Studio files that I designed. I was cleaning my studio yesterday and placed a stack of layouts (40) in an album. One of them had these cute layered butterflies from Crate Paper, Notes and Things. I decided to make my own. I used a freebie butterfly I already had that I created last year and used on a card I created for Card Kit Monday. I changed this butterfly a little bit by adding a center piece. I layered all three and used my sewing machine for the center. The exact size of the butterflies: L 2.25 M 1.625 S 1.25 You can make them any size that you need.

Hello by Daniela Dobson

I used Fab Friday 87 for the sketch and The Challenge #73 for the colors. The diagonal stripe background was cut from white cardstock and for the insert from a different card background. I have been seeing diagonal lines like this on various cards and I like it.  I added some whipped spackle  to the background and watercolor paint. I added a vellum frame and a strip of polka dot vellum as a banner for the House of Cards challenge. For the hand drawn circle I have several different ones here and here. Make sure you visit the FREEBIES page and download what you like. I cut “hello” from black and white cardstock and layered them with a little offset. It’s my own handwriting.

{ Impression Obsession DT challenge – Splashes of Color }

Hi and welcome to our  Impression Obsession challenge – Splashes of Color. Here is my interpretation  of splashes of color.

In my thoughts by Daniela Dobson

I started by stamping the pink cardstock background with Cover-a-card Dots and white ink.  I stamped and hand cut the Gingham Picture Frame and Striped Banner. I layered a die cut circle that I stamped with Atmosphere stamp. I die cut and stamped the flowers. The leaves are die cut from white cardstock and I dipped them in ink. The sentiment stamp and die cut our from our brand new release. There are a bunch of different sentiments and die combinations with various fonts to play with. I played along in Mojo Monday 437.

{ Impression Obsession DT challenge – Give Thanks }

Hi and welcome to our  Impression Obsession challenge – Give Thanks. We had lots of participation in our last challenge, “Feeling Blue”, and I hope this one is just as fun.

My card today has a very interesting color combo. Not my typical colors, but I really liked the challenge at Color Throwdown #367: gold, coral and green!

Thankful by Daniela Dobson

If you know me and have been reading this blog for a while, you know that I like to mix different stamps and patterns together. One of these days I might make a clean and simple card, but not yet.

I started with the Tapestry Tag that I layered over All-in-One Frames - Rectangles 2 I die cut from gold paper. The Peony, from Peony Set 2 and Peony Set 1, is stamped with Cameo Coral, old Stampin’ Up ink that I had for ages. I was able to achieve different shades by stamping off for the first, light layer, and then stamping with regular color, and third layer I double stamped. It worked with one ink pad. That is the only coral color I have. Same with the leaves. I used Old Olive.

I fussy cut the flower and leaves and added foam adhesive to the flower for dimension. The card base is stamped with Cover-a-card Screen. The sentiment is from Be Grateful stamp set. I added twine and sequins to finish the card.
I used Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #293 for this card.

{ Card kit Monday–Circles and Triangles–take 2 }

Hi and happy Monday. I have a new card using the brand new Card kit Monday from last week. You can still see the one I made last week { Card kit Monday–Circles and Triangles }.

I do have a process video to go with this card. Did you know that I have a YouTube Channel? You can follow me there. I would love it if you would subscribe and give me a thumbs up if you liked the video.

Happiness by Daniela Dobson

How about this color combination? It came from Color Throwdown #361. In addition, I used a sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 288. To make the card fit the sketch I had to add a tag. This kit doesn’t have a tag, but if you check out my freebies you will find lots of free stuff there. I used a tag from Bread Tag freebie and I have some more in Pocket with tags freebie. A little flower with a button and some twine. Perfect little card.

Happiness close by Daniela Dobson

When I am getting ready to cut my pieces I usually arrange everything in my Silhouette Studio. As you can see in the photo, I even color all the pieces so I know what colors I need to cut. I import the photo into the program and use my dropper tool to add the custom color. This card came together in less than 10 minutes. I hope you create something with this kit.

Once again, if you make something with the kit please share and let me know. I would love to see. You can download the kit HERE.

{ Stuck?!Sketches }

Hi! I loved the sketch that popped up in my Instagram feed from Stuck?!Sketches that I had to play along. I created the layout with the sketch and then found some other fun challenges from Scrapbook.com to incorporate into my layout.

Best day by Daniela Dobson

For this layout I used Impression Obsession stamps. You have seen me use them on cards, but I rarely used them on layouts. This one started with House Plans stamped with navy ink. Those large, cover-a-card stamps are 5.75 x 5.75. One of the twist in the stamping challenge was to use Architectural/Interior Elements. I used Whipped Spackle from Faber Castel and Prima mask for some embossing and before it was dry I sprinkles some super fine glitter.

Floor plan stamp by Daniela Dobson

For the Silhouette challenge I cut the big hand drawn circle. It’s one of my freebies that I enlarged and cut out from white cardstock. All the paper and embellishments are from Crate Paper that I got recently from Emma’s Paperie. I am in love with the collections. I just love how it turned out. The photo is from our Universal Studios Hollywood adventure. We are in line for the fifth time for Studio Tour. Yes, we went on the tour 5 times. It was a little different each time and we loved it.

{ Impression Obsession DT challenge – Fall Colors }

Hi and welcome to our  Impression Obsession challenge – Fall Colors.

Hello and happy Thursday. It’s that time again, Impression Obsession DT challenge. Today I am sharing a card that I created with brand NEW stamps from Impression Obsession. This is from our Fall/Winter 2015 release. It’s will be 106 today here in Texas and it doesn’t feel like fall, but it was fun creating with these fall colors.

Here is my card.

Thank you by Daniela Dobson

I have these watercolors in tubes that I got at Michaels. I added two colors, orange and yellow and used my pallete knife to spread the color down the front of the card. Then I added brown and did the same thing. The color in the tubes is pretty dry and I didn’t add water so it was great consistency for spreading the color. I muted the colors just a bit by adding white Gesso over the top.

I stamped the diamond border on the bottom with ink. The Instant Photo Frame is die cut from patterned paper. I stamped and fussy cut all the other elements. I splattered yellow and orange color shine at the end after I added the sequins and the twine bow.

{ Card kit Monday and a freebie }

I made it, Card kit Monday on Monday. This is my third card with this kit. I changed the sentiments and embellishments. So many other things can be added from your stash.

For this card I used Color Throwdown #350 and Fab Friday 68

Hello by Daniela Dobson

This time I added the butterfly (my previous cards had an arrow and a balloon).  I am sharing  the arrow, balloon and butterfly in the freebie file below.
I cut the striped panel from white cardstock and painted it pink and orange using watercolor to match the colors for the challenge. The butterfly is painted, as well, with the same pink color.

My friend Teri Anderson created an adorable card using this kit. Make sure you check it out.
